After returning home, I didn’t immediately check the group chat. Instead, I opened my Status and browsed through my Skill List.
I already knew that the chat had some kind of hypnotic magic cast on it.
Which meant I needed a way to counter it before diving in.
“Now… which one’s the right choice?”
There were an overwhelming number of skills displayed, and their effects wouldn’t be clear until I actually learned them.
Luckily, I had an excess of skill points.
So, I decided to trust my gut and pick the ones that felt right.
“Oh, this one looks promising.”
The skill that caught my eye was Dispel.
A quick search on my phone told me that in games, “Dispel” usually referred to removing magic or nullifying effects.
I wasn’t sure if the Dispel of this world worked the same way as in games, but if it didn’t, I’d figure something else out.
Just in case, I decided to grab Magic Counter as well.
With that, I casually tapped Learn Skill.

I got lucky—Dispel was exactly what I was hoping for.
Well, there was still a chance it wouldn’t work as expected in practice… but for now, it seemed useful.

It seemed powerful, but I doubted I’d need it for this situation.
Now, I had to test Dispel to see exactly how it worked.
I activated Water Magic, creating a small water droplet in my palm, then immediately cast Dispel on it.
The droplet instantly dispersed, vanishing as if it had never existed.
Next, I checked my Status to see how much MP had been consumed.

Since Appraisal consumed 10 MP and Water Magic used 5, that meant Dispel required 20 MP to activate.
Next, I decided to test something else.

This time, I used 50 MP to create a large water sphere. Then, I activated Dispel on it.
My Dispel skill was still at level 1. There was a chance it wouldn’t work on large-scale magic.
This test was meant to confirm that possibility, but—
“…It disappeared.”
The large water sphere vanished instantly, just like before.
So even at level 1, Dispel could nullify any kind of magic or ability?
If that was the case, then what would happen if I leveled it up?
“…Might as well check this too.”
Next, I used Ice Magic to form a small ice ball and then created a tiny whirlwind with Wind Magic to keep it floating.
“Dispel.”
The moment I activated it, only the ice ball disappeared—the whirlwind remained.
“…?”
I repeated the process, this time focusing my Dispel on the whirlwind instead.
The whirlwind vanished, while the ice ball dropped to the floor.
I see. So at my current skill level, Dispel could only erase one effect at a time.
Well, this should still be enough for now.
Thinking that, I hesitantly opened the messaging app on my phone and tapped on the infamous group chat.
The moment my finger touched the screen, a purple magic circle emerged from it, releasing a sweet-smelling smoke into the air.
“Dispel.”
As soon as I saw it, I activated Dispel, causing the smoke to vanish in an instant. The magic circle itself faded into a colorless form.
For now, I hoped I had managed to avoid the hypnosis magic trap.
Next, I needed to figure out more about this magic circle.

The caster is Nagamoto Susumu, the boss of the designated crime syndicate Yamafuji-kai.
The magic catalyst used includes parts of a Gyūki’s remains.

That was the same yakuza syndicate those guys from yesterday belonged to.
And judging by this appraisal result, it seemed like there were multiple objects similar to that glass bottle from before.

Just as I was making those deductions, my phone started ringing—Kuon was calling.
