Chapter 10: Ended Up Helping Someone (Part 3)
"Fujisawa-san, run!"
I shouted at the top of my lungs and pinned the man in front of me—Kajiwara—to the ground so he couldn’t lay a hand on Fujisawa-san.
She hesitated for a moment, but after meeting my eyes, she nodded, grabbed her phone, and ran outside with her younger brothers.
"You bastard! Are you trying to take Haruna away from me!?"
Kajiwara, his bloodshot eyes filled with rage, roared as he pulled a box cutter from his pocket and slashed at me.
Man, this is seriously terrifying. A grown man, reeking of alcohol, coming at me with the intent to kill.
Also, from the looks of it, he hasn't even realized that I’m one of his students.
Was Fujisawa-san really such an ideal woman in his eyes?
Well, whatever. Running away after getting involved this much would be pathetic.
"Die!!!"
"Whoa—"
Kajiwara lunged, aiming the blade straight at my eye.
(Wind Magic)
Just as its name suggests, Wind Magic allows me to generate gusts using MP.
I activated it to slightly alter the trajectory of his arm, dodging the attack.
Then, seizing the brief opening, I shoved Kajiwara away and snatched the box cutter from his hands, teleporting it away with Spatial Transfer Magic.
"You bastard! Where the hell did you send it!?"
"Who knows? Take a guess!"
I dashed forward and slammed Kajiwara against the wall again, pinning him in place.
I just needed to keep this scumbag restrained and buy as much time as possible.
That was my plan—until I noticed the sinister grin spreading across Kajiwara’s face.
"...Huh?"
Heavy footsteps echoed from the hallway.
"Tch, you're late, Yasu!"
"Sorry, aniki. The brat got away!"
A man with bleached blond hair and a black tracksuit stepped into the room, gripping a metal bat in his right hand.
(Appraisal)
Hamata Yasunori, 26 years old, Human
Status: Drug Addiction
Notes: Rebellious toward his parents, he joined a biker gang in his youth. Got introduced to drugs by old gang members and became addicted. Previously sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison with a 3-year suspended sentence for violating stimulant control laws.
So Kajiwara's buddy wasn’t a relative or anything—just some thug a middle school teacher had no business associating with.
Well, I had a hunch he was mixed up with people like this when I used Tracking & Detection Magic to investigate earlier.
"Tch, whatever. Let's just beat the shit outta this punk."
"Got it, aniki!"
Yasu raised his metal bat high above his head.
I had used Spatial Transfer Magic to teleport here in a hurry after getting a call from my sister, so my MP was already down to just over 10%.
Even if I teleported the bat away, it wouldn’t solve the problem.
This might be it.
"Die, you little shit!!"
Yasu swung the bat straight at my head.
A loud claaang! echoed through the room.
"...Huh?"
Yasu’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Even I wasn’t sure what had just happened.
Because all I had done was instinctively raise my arm to shield my head.
"H-Hey! What the hell are you doing!? Just finish him already!"
"I know, I know!"
At Kajiwara’s frantic urging, Yasu swung his bat down again.
A sharp crack rang out, and they both let out relieved sighs.
They must’ve thought my arm had snapped.
That’s why they failed to notice what had actually happened.
The silver bat had bent at a right angle where it struck my arm.
After a few seconds, the realization finally dawned on them, and all traces of confidence drained from their faces.
"W-What the hell…?"
"This… this is impossible…"
Ignoring their fear-stricken expressions, I checked my Status.
Iori Shuu, Lv.35, Human
HP: 1390/1400
MP: 35/300
SP: 50
STR: 45
VIT: 55
DEX: 35
AGI: 65
INT: 55
Skills: Appraisal, Universal Translation, Water Magic, Wind Magic, Spatial Transfer Magic, Ice Magic, Healing Magic, Item Box, Tracking & Detection Magic
My HP had only dropped by 10 points.
That was the full force of Yasu’s strongest attack—his maximum damage output against me.
…Looks like I’ve been unconsciously holding myself back.
But now that I’ve realized it, there’s no reason to keep pretending.
I casually approached Yasu, who was still staring blankly at his ruined bat, and flicked his forehead.
"Hgyuuh!?"
Yasu crumpled to the ground.
I had wondered if a light flick to the head would knock him out, and sure enough, it worked like a charm.
"You… w-what the hell did you just do…?"
"What? That was just a flick to the forehead."
Kajiwara’s face, previously red from alcohol, had turned completely pale.
He looked like a horror movie victim who had just stumbled upon a monster.
"Alright, your turn."
"N-No, please—!"
And with that, I flicked Kajiwara’s forehead as well, knocking him unconscious.
